Suddenly you've got them, only
Not the usual way, where you
Feel an ache in a lost limb you
Once had but misplaced, yourself,
No, you never had these limbs
But all at once, from thousands
Of stray memories--a drowsy sort
Of shared, animal memory--you feel
It all, all limbs from all kinds of being
Every gesture ever made in spasm
You become a gnarled tree of phantom
Limbs, then a whole forest, trembling
